Her Smile

I go home almost everyday for lunch to see this smile

It makes the rest of the day much easier to deal with.

If I have to work outside the home, at least its only 10 minutes away!

Grace's First Halloween

It's Grace's first Halloween!
We had trick or treat in our neighborhood the Thursday before,
so we got Grace all dressed up and took her over to see some of the neighbors.
It was chilly outside, so the warm costume was great and we had a hat that matched perfect!
I think she was supposed to be some kind of dragon or something but we called her our slobber monster.
Cutest monster I've ever seen!

On Saturday, my aunt and uncle had their annual Halloween party so we all got dressed up and went there.
Enter costume #2....my little ladybug!
When I saw this costume on Carters for 50% off I had to get it, even though I had already bought the fuzzy monster.
The whole time I was pregnant, she was my little Junebug.
And everyone knows I love ladybugs...so I think this costume is really what she was meant to wear!
Isn't she an adorable ladybug? A happy ladybug to boot!
I rarely dress up, but since this was our first  Halloween as a family, I knew I had to.
We were making memories!
Daddy was a personal alarm, which he pulled from Kentucky Fried Movie.
His light spun around, Grace liked looking at it.
Mommy dressed up as Sue Sylvester from Glee.
I haven't watched the show, but knew who she was.
I thought maybe Grace would be afraid of me in a wig, but she was fine with it.
My little family. Eeek-I love it!
We spent most of the night inside since it was chilly and rainy,
and the Ohio State game was on so it was good.
{We ended up winning and beating Wisconsin! Woohoo!}
Grace spent some time on Daddy's lap and was as content as could be.
Just chillin and sucking her thumb watching everybody come in and out.
Wait...did I say sucking her thumb??? Oh yes I did!
Our little girl has mastered that over the last few weeks!
No longer is she sucking her whole hand, which she still does occasionally.
But its not long until she moves her thumb up in there.
Love it!

It was so fun having a little one to dress up and I can't wait {but I can} until we can take her trick or treating next year!

Cute

Four and a half months.
20 weeks.
145 days.
However you see it....this is what cute looks like.

Grace's first trip to the apple orchard

We have an annual tradition of going to the local orchard and picking apples.
Not just any kind of apples. HONEYCRISP APPLES!
If you have never tried a honeycrisp, go to the store now and buy one. You will thank me.

This was Grace's first apple picking expedition.
I wore her in my front pack carrier and even though she wasn't quite tall enough to look around,
she did pretty good in it for about 20 minutes until she got hungry and was over it.
See the look on her face...she is less than thrilled.
Next year she will be walking around with us...wow I can't even imagine how fun that will be!

It was a cooler morning and it seemed like it was going to rain, but it didn't while we were there.
We walked thru the isles of trees looking for just the right apples.
The ones that are both red and green taste the best I think.
We got a 20 lb bag and picked up a 10 lb bag for my Grandma. She loves them too!
Of course you have to eat a few apples while you are picking them, that is part of the fun!

She started to get a little more fussy, so I went back to the car and nursed her for a little while.
It was my first experience nursing in a public place.
I felt good about it, kinda at one with nature and mother nature all at the same time.
It was very relaxing. Afterwards Grace was much happier as you can see.

So afterwards, we stepped back outside while the boys were finishing up and
took the chance to get a few more pictures to remember this special day.
I love my beautiful little family.

I love starting traditions with her! She makes them so special!

The Nursery

Welcome to our nursery! It's so pretty!
We have been putting the final touches on it for the last few weeks, and besides a few pictures that will be added, it is ready for our little girls arrival in a few short weeks.

We went back and forth between this bedding and one with pink and brown elephants. I am so glad we chose the birds...they are so calming and the colors are so light and refreshing. And the long shag green carpet in the center....perfection! My husband had the vision for that, and I'm so glad he found it! I can't wait to have her playing with toys on it. It feels so nice and relaxing!
The toughest part of the decorating was the blooming cherry tree decal. It turned out amazing and I can't imagine the wall without it there. My husband did a great job putting it all together. I handed him the pieces but he did all the work making it look like it was meant to look.
We have a few cubes in her room. There is one beside the glider that holds extra blankets and breastfeeding supplies. And the one beside the crib holds all the books that people gave us at the shower with messages to our little girl. Things she will treasure for years to come!
The glider and ottoman are in the next corner, beside the window. Emma has been testing out the glider with me.We both approve and think the Grace will love it! I know I haven't shared the name with many of you, but the time has come to share!
Our little girl is going to be named Grace Mae.
This is her dresser and changing table. Again, we went thru many Etsy shops before we finally picked out a decal for over the changing table. This one felt perfect, so glad we found it.
Right now I have changing supplies, burp clothes and medical stuff in the top drawer, onsies, socks, caps and accessories in the second, and sleepers and pants in the bottom drawer.
We'll see how it works out once we start using stuff.
The sign that my cousin made for us hangs right inside the door when you walk in. I changed the fabric in the background to match the bedding more. It makes me smile and think how happy my mom would be in that room.
Quite a closet for a little girl don't you think? We were blessed with so many clothes at our showers, we've got stuff that she can wear up until she's about 2 years old. The bigger items and stuff we won't be using right away and tucked away in here as well.
See...I wasn't kidding about the clothes...not to mention the shoes! But who can pass up clearance shoes for $1! Not this momma!
I hope you enjoyed the virtual walk thru my happy place. We have spent many hours just sitting in the room and practicing our breathing and talking about how things will be once she arrives. I never thought I would feel so relaxed in that room, but its almost like this calm comes over me when I sit in the glider.
Anxiously awaiting her arrival.
Our pretty little girl.
Our little piece of happy.

You Capture-Motherhood

My First Mother's Day.
  I rubbed and stared at my belly extra long this day.
Can she feel the love and awe that I have every time I feel her move?
I cried as I walked into her nursery that morning, filled with such love
for this little girl that I am carrying in my womb.
I cried when her daddy gave me my first card,
even before I opened it to see the words he picked just for me.
Then I cried more after I read those words.
He loves us both so much!
Motherhood....I am so ready to begin this journey.

You Capture-Pink

When we found out we were having a little girl, I instantly found myself drawn to all things pink!
Not EVERYTHING would have to be pink, but it was clear from early on,
that lots of stuff would be pink.
Pink is calming yet powerful. Loving yet independent.
Pink just feels good and makes me want to hug!

Final touches to the nursery are being done this week, so I will be sharing that soon.
Until then, here is a little sneak peak into our little girls room.
Feel the love. Feel the calm. Feel the pink.

You Capture-Circles

There are all kinds of circles in our house that make me happy.

This money plant, a gift from my husbands grandparents sits in our living room.
Its amazing how they turn such a beautiful color when they dry.
I heart them and their simplicity.
Seeing Emma's head poke out from her favorite blanket always makes me smile.
Isn't she just adorable!
My husband collects vinyl and got a new turntable for Christmasn.
Even though I'm not a huge fan, its nice to listen to them and hear some of the crackles on the older ones.
I appreciate them for the history of music.
Right now this is the main sort of toy in our house. Dog toys.
Emma had this for years and never really played much with it. But Ellie seems to love it.
And that makes me happy.

You Capture-Doorway

Sometimes all you need is a doorway with a little sunshine coming in
to make winter a little more bearable.

My Favorite Captures of 2010

I was so happy when Beth announced this weeks You Capture challenge was to pick our favorites!
It took a while to scan thru the harddrive but I managed to narrow it down to my favorite photos of 2010.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some of them came from my trip to Chicago this fall.
My trip to the visit my dear friend Lauren included included my first MLB game.
Go Cubs!
Some of them came from right in my own backyard.
I love when I can capture the details in my photos.
Some were taken on weekend visits to local parks and sporting events.
Go Buckeyes!
And of course I couldn't "fur"-get our adorable dogs!
Emma and Ellie have had their share of camera time this year-they are so cute!
And this one was just taken on Christmas Day. My cousins 2 week old baby boy Hudson.
Everybody loves baby toes!
But by far this is my favorite photo of 2010.
I have been waiting so long to capture this picture.
There were days in the beginning that I had to look at this to believe it was finally happening.
But lately all I have to do is reach down and pat my growing tummy. And Smile.
I am so blessed for all of the experiences that go along with these photos.
I will remember that everyday. And not take any of them for granted.
You Capture-Hidden Happiness
Sometimes happiness can be hidden, but its there if you just look for it.
A bright dewey red honeycrisp.  We picked over 50 lbs of apples from our local orchard last weekend.
We have done this for the past 3 years, its a tradition we hope to carry on for years to come.
One of the final blooms of summer poking its head out amidst the garden vegetables.
The only kind of petunias I like are the striped ones.
Grandma's smile always makes me happy....see that twinkle in her eyes?
That twinkle makes me believe everything is going to be ok.
Where did you find happiness this week?
Stop over and share with Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry.
